Pneumatic Telescopic Masts

Kadevi backed by its R&D and state of the art infrastructure is the first company in india to design and manufacture Pneumatic Telescopic Masts with technical know how from Hilomast Ltd., U.K

Over 20,000 Pneumatic Telescopic Masts have been supplied to Armed Forces and other users to meet their Critical Communication and Tactical Communication Needs

Pneumatic masts are ideal for communications, surveillance, elevated testing and mobile radar applications. Locking models are available when mast deployment is needed for extended periods. Ease in operation, quick deployment and transportation are the key differentiators of these masts when compared to other types.

Technical information:

The Pneumatic Telescopic Mast is manufactured by using heat treated high tensile aluminum alloy sections of different diameters telescoped into each other. The top aluminum sections are anodized, Bottom section is chromated and olive green powder coated (option of colour change if required) to withstand the environmental conditions.

Depending on the Antenna loads, erected and retracted height, the number of sections are designed. These sections can be easily extended vertically, using low-pressure air, to a height ranging between 3-33 meters. This low-pressure air can be supplied either by a foot pump or by an air compressor. On vehicle mounted masts the air can be drawn from available pneumatic system with additional suitable accessories.

One of the special features is, the full-length key way, which prevents relative rotation between sections and enables the mast to be used for mounting directional antennas. Each section when raised to its required/full height needs to be clamped by locking collars. These locking collars are operated by thumbscrews. The retraction is also simple. The mast can be lowered easily, section wise, by releasing the thumbscrews and Air outlet valve.

The mast is designed as per customer requirements either self supported or guy supported. The Guy ropes material & Diameter (Nylon or Steel) is arrived as per the design of the mast.

Applications:

PTMs find application in a wide variety of tasks. They are basically used, as a means (temporary/mobile or permanent) of setting up communication facilities quickly. Some of the applications for which PTMs can be used are listed below:

  1. Cell On Wheels (COW)
  2. Fixed and Mobile Radio communication
  3. Conducting geodesic surveying
  4. Handling any emergency work
  5. Providing temporary illumination
  6. Jamming unwanted radio signals
  7. Remote surveillance
  8. Measuring noise levels
  9. Testing wireless cables,
  10. Measuring field strength
  11. Mounting Lighting arrestors and CCTv Cameras
  12. Radio Survey
  13. Temporary Flood lights
  14. O.D Communication Van

Besides these, PTMs can help in the most harsh and unmanned locations, in installation of certain instruments like:

  1. Environmental sensors
  2. Microphones
  3. Anemometers
  4. Self operating and remote operating cameras
  5. Meteorological instruments
